My Approach

One counselling approach does not fit all. We all process differently, some of us like to think it out, some of us have easy access to our emotions, some of us are in tune with finding the information in our bodies, some of us respond to expressive/art approaches. Some of us respond to a mix of everything.

Sometimes you may just need someone to debrief with, sometimes you may need strategies, sometimes we may need to go deeper and look at family of origin, old wounds, past grief or trauma.

The frameworks of therapy that inform my work include hakomi, emotion focussed therapy, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal therapy, family systems therapy, schema therapy, internal family systems, EMDR, mindfulness, expressive/art therapy and the harm minimisation approach to drug and alcohol misuse.

It’s also my job to ask you “How are we doing here? Are we focussing on what you want to be focussing on? Is this approach working for you?”

If you like me, if you feel like you can tell me things, if you look forward to coming to talk with me (even when I challenge you) …then we are halfway there.

Let us help you find care that's right for you.
